Motorcyclist injured in Highway 169 crash

Shakopee Valley News:

A New Prague woman suffered minor injuries after crashing her motorcycle Thursday afternoon on Highway 169 west of Shakopee.

Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen said the motorcycle crashed near Old Brickyard Road in Jackson Township.

The rider, Jacqueline Albrecht, 32, was transferred to St Francis Regional Medical Center, according to a state crash report and Hennen.

According to the report, Albrecht and witness reported the motorcycle took off from the stoplight northbound at a high rate of speed, with witnesses estimating she was going 80 to 100 mph. Albrecht said she was going about 80 mph when she left the road to the left and hit the cable median barrier.

Peggy Dunnette of Jordan made a 911 call to report the accident at 2:41 p.m. She was driving north on Highway 169 just past Highway Highway 41 when she saw a young woman on the side of the road who appeared to be working on a motorcycle.

In what seemed like a moment later, the motorcycle whizzed by her, “just barreling by,” Dunnette said.

“She must’ve been going 80,” she said. “She was going like a bat out of hell.”

Minutes later, south of Marystown Road, Dunnette came upon the crash scene. The back wheel of the motorcycle was “smashed off” and it was in the right lane, and Albrecht was lying in the median on the left side of the road. She did not appear to have been wearing a helmet, Dunnette said.
