Bieber strikes out 13, ties record as Indians top Twins 2-0

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Cleveland’s Shane Bieber has tied the major league record for strikeouts in a pitcher’s first two starts of the season. Bieber punched out 13 Minnesota Twins over eight innings and the Indians won 2-0. Francisco Lindor supplied all the offense Cleveland needed with a two-run homer in the third inning off Jose Berríos.

With the win the Indians take the slight edge for the division lead, a ½ game in front of the Twins. Game 2 of the series tonight, Mike Clevenger if the probable starter for the tribe while the Twins will send out Randy Dobnak in place of Jake Odorizzi who remains out nursing a back injury. 6:30 pregame, 7:10 first pitch.
