Carver County Suspends Walk-Up Services In Response to COVID-19

CHASKA, Minn.—Carver County announced a suspension of walk-up services, except for emergency and 24/7 operations, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The County plans to close public entrances to County facilities, starting with close of business on Tuesday, March 17. The suspension lasts through Friday, March 27. This suspension doesn’t include the Justice Center or Carver County District Court. This follows the Board of Commissioners declaration of a local state of emergency on Tuesday morning.

This suspension includes, but is not limited to:

  • Carver County Library branches
  • License Centers (Chaska and Chanhassen locations)
  • Government Center building (except Justice Center)
  • Public Works/Extension building (Cologne)
  • Environmental Center
  • County Attorney’s Office
  • CareerForce
  • First St. Center (Waconia)
  • Encore Adult Day Center (Waconia)

Carver County employees continue to work, combining teleworking with staggered work schedules to continue responding and serving residents via phone or email. County leaders plan to use this time to redesign service approaches, adhering to current CDC and Minnesota Department of Health guidelines on community mitigation to keep our community safe and healthy. This plan would significantly decrease in-person contact while maintaining County services.

This suspension does not include the Justice Center or Carver County District Court. Essential services such as law enforcement, 911 Dispatch and jail services will remain fully operational. Carver County parks remain open for use, although no facilities within the parks are open. SmartLink services will also continue to be provided.
