McKenna Hofschild is a finalist for the state’s top girls basketball award, Ms. Basketball, an award that will be given out April 12 at the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association’s banquet in Northfield.

Hofschild led the Lakers at 23.8 points per game this season. She finished her career as the Lakers’ all-time leading scorer with 2,488 points. The Lakers finished 11-17 overall this past season, falling to top-seeded Eden Prairie in the section semifinals.

Hofschild also made the Class 4A all-state team, which was also selected by the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association. She was one of 10 players to earn those honors.

Hofschild, a 5-foot-3 point guard, will play Division I next year Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
