The Lonsdale News Review:
University of Minnesota director of athletic performance Dan Nichol will be a the keynote speaker at New Prague Football Association’s second annual Community Sports Night Sunday, April 7 at the New Prague Golf Course starting at 6:30 p.m.
Jake Norby, head football coach for New Prague called it “a shot in the dark” to ask Nichol to speak at the event, but the strength and training coach for the Minnesota Gophers liked the idea and wanted to offer support.
The Community Sports Night is an informational session with refreshments, snacks and a message from Norby. The main event of the evening, however, is the message from Nichol. His talk is relevant to all young athletes, not just football players.
Norby said one goal of the presentation is to promote strength and training programs to students, not only for football players but all student athletes.
Coaches who attend Community Sports Night session relay what they learn back to their sports teams, and parents are also encouraged to share the information with their young athletes at home. That way, said Buthe, the student-athletes hear the same message from two different sources and hopefully retain the knowledge.
No registration is required for this free event, which is open to the community and geared toward parents of athletes of any age.
