The Minnesota Vikings were thoroughly embarrassed on Sunday afternoon as the Atlanta Falcons handed them a 40-23 loss at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The game got off to a bad start from the first play of the game as Kirk Cousins threw his first of three interceptions on the afternoon.

The Falcons, who came into the game with an 0-5 record, took advantage when Matt Ryan connected with Julio Jones for a 20-yard touchdown to get Atlanta on the board.

The touchdown set the tone of the afternoon as the Falcons dominated the Vikings throughout the first half. As Atlanta executed a goal-line stand, they built up a 23-0 lead going into halftime.

With the game decided in the first 30 minutes, the Vikings appeared to show some fight as Justin Jefferson scored two touchdowns and Adam Thielen added another, but it was never enough to mount a full comeback

Jones would wind up with a monster game against the Vikings defense with 137 yards and two touchdowns as Atlanta ran away with their first win of the season.

For the Vikings, the loss sends them to 1-5 entering the bye week. Minnesota will return with a matchup with the division-leading Green Bay Packers on Nov. 1.
